The cooperation between Favero Health Projects S.p.a. and Microban® has resulted in a considerable improvement in the performance of Favero products in terms of health and hygiene.
Microban® is a product that is added to the polymers or materials while they are being processed, without changing the actual production process, to inhibit the growth of a vast range of bacteria (or fungi) such as those listed below. This inhibition lasts for the lifetime of the product.
- Listeria monocytogenes
- Escherichia coli 0157
- Salmonella Enteritis
- Staphylococcus aureus
- Aspergillus Niger
It has been demonstrated that Microban® is capable of reducing by up to 99.9% the level of the above bacteria, which are a cause of contamination. Further tests are in progress on more virulent bacteria.
In the case of Favero products, Microban® is put into the plastics during the moulding stage; it is incorporated into the structure of the polymer and evenly distributed throughout the mould and on the surface. Thanks to this even distribution Microban ® is present and effective everywhere in the product, thereby providing continual protection even in areas that are problematical or inaccessible for cleaning. Using Microban is not a substitute for normal sanitation procedures, but helps make working equipment and area safer.
The action of Microban® differs from that of disinfectants in terms of duration. While the anti-bacterial action of a disinfectant finishes once it has evaporated or has been washed off, Microban® endures with constant effectiveness.
